US$5,000 invested at birth. For children born with Caymanian status. In a fund tracking the S&P 500, held for at least 18 years.
Proposed programme · Not yet open · Investment returns are not guaranteed.

A community-backed financial foundation for children born with Caymanian status—not a monthly savings plan. Here’s the proposed approach.
Start with a one-time US$5,000 investment for a child born with Caymanian status. That status must be held at birth to qualify.
Place the money in a fund that tracks the S&P 500, giving exposure to a broad group of large US companies. Investment values can rise or fall.
Keep the investment in place for a minimum of 18 years. Time gives compounding a chance to work, but growth is not guaranteed.
For children born with Caymanian status: US$5,000 at birth. No additional contributions. Explore what different annual returns could mean after 18 years invested in a fund tracking the S&P 500.
Illustration, not a forecast: US$5,000 invested once at birth for 18 years, using your assumed constant annual total return with dividends reinvested. No additional contributions. Excludes fees, taxes and inflation. Actual returns fluctuate and can be negative; the S&P 500 does not provide a fixed or guaranteed return. The proposed minimum holding period is 18 years.
No finance degree needed.
Just a little curiosity.
Saving puts money aside for when you need it. Investing buys assets with the aim of growing your money over time, but their value can fall as well as rise. The right balance depends on your goals and when you need the money.
When returns stay invested, they can earn returns of their own. That is compounding. Time can make a difference, but investment growth is not steady or guaranteed. Try the calculator above to explore an example.
Choose a family savings goal. Talk about what it costs, what you can put aside and how long it might take. Let children track progress and discuss the difference between a need and a want.
We’re at the beginning of something.
Here’s where things stand.
A proposed community-led initiative to invest US$5,000 at birth for a child born with Caymanian status, in a fund tracking the S&P 500, leaving it invested for at least 18 years, alongside practical money education for families.
The proposed minimum holding period is 18 years from birth. Detailed access rules and account arrangements are still being developed.
The programme is exclusively for children born with Caymanian status. Caymanian status must be held at birth. Living in the Cayman Islands alone, or acquiring Caymanian status later, does not qualify a child. The application process and documentation needed to verify Caymanian status at birth will be published before registration opens.
Not yet. The programme is in development. The programme is only for children born with Caymanian status. Account arrangements, status-verification requirements and application dates are still being developed.
We’re exploring ways for local businesses to support the initiative through funding, educational resources and community participation. Get in touch about corporate sponsorship.
All professional services are to be donated, provided pro bono at no charge to LiftOff Cayman. Professional partners will contribute their time and expertise as an in-kind donation. Provider arrangements are still being developed.
No donations are being collected through this website. Programme governance, funding and operating arrangements still need to be finalised.
